SILVERTOP ACH - JAN 2015
"...there are some good performances in the play, especially by James Coley as our protagonist Hamish, and Perri Cummings as Penny, Hamish’s mother. The scenes they share are poignant, heartfelt and often imbued with subtle humour." - Theatre Press
AS YOU LIKE IT - SEP 2014
"Yet again, I’m made aware of the great reservoirs of talent in this city,
working for the love of it, for the hell of it, undeservedly unknown, in all
manner of unheated and inappropriate spaces to create theatre. Thank you,
Spark, for this engaging, funny and brave, almost unadorned As You Like It."
Stage Whispers
"Director Perri Cummings (who also stars as Touchstone in an interesting twist) has played the action in a contemporary fashion, playing two of the major male characters as females. This shifts the dynamic of the piece
and instead of being a testosterone dominated world of men, the power shifts to the female characters and leaves the audience feeling as tho in this game of love, the women come up trumps. The outstanding cast are a wonder and
the nearly 2 hour play moves along at a crackingpace. It is a pleasant piece and is cleverly staged in such a confined space."

THEATEROTICA - FEB 2014
"Theaterotica has a cast of talented actors, giving truthful performances. I think audiences would agree that Monorotica will get you hot under the collar, but it will also make you think.”
Daily Melbourne
"One of the greatest pleasures of going to the theatre is seeing performances by actors that really impress."

FLAME TREES - FEB 2013
"Glowing moments show much potential"
..."has you feeling not like you are watching a play but as
if eavesdropping on some private conversations"
..."so much work put into creating the tension and
suspense"
..."The stage was divided into three sections: a police station, a living room and a pub. They were simply designed and were used to support the scene rather than control it, thus allowing the actors to tell us the story."
..."The world premiere of Flame Trees is definitely a display of great Aussie theatre "

..."There was much to love about this production. Firstly, the premise for this play is top notch. Such a wonderfully tension-filled set up could not fail to grab the audience’s attention and hook them in from the moment the first news report echoed across the space. A clever touch by Director, Perri Cummings, was to include actual news reports on bush fires at the very head of the play, in audio only, that skip from one journalist voice-over to another like skimming a radio dial, which gave us a sense of urgency and emotional connection before the first words are even uttered by the cast."
"Another elegant aspect was the set. Divided into three spaces – a police
office, a pub and a lounge room scene changes took place via the use of
lighting only, which ensured a smooth progression from one moment to another with only the pauses required to allow cast on and off the stage. Minimally dressed, the set worked well in the Theatre Works space, using to full effect three large windows positioned behind each sparsely decorated location, that were progressively lit from white to red to white, according to the script and story arc."
... "if you want to see some excellent talent in a new Australian work at a
popular independent theatre venue – get along to Flame Trees"...
